Purpose Driven Life - Day Eleven

Becoming Best Friends with God, Day 11, Journaling the Purpose Driven Life

If there ever was a chapter that contained so many truths it would be this one.  Rather than put my thoughts down I am going to just quote some favorite phrases from The Purpose Driven Life, by Rick Warren.  I trust they will have an impact on your life as they have had on mine.
God wants to be your best friend.
God is our Creator, God is our Maker, God is our Lord, God is our Master, God is our Judge, God is our Redeemer, God is our Father, God is our Savior, God is our Rock, God is our Refuge, God is our Help in trouble.  And God yearns to be your best Friend!
The word friend does not mean a casual acquaintance but a close trusted relationship, where you enjoy close contact, direct access and confidential information.
Two secrets of friendships with God.  1)  Through constant conversation.  Friendship is built by sharing all your life experiences with God.  Knowing and loving God is our greatest privilege, and being known and loved is God’s greatest pleasure.
The key to friendship with God is not changing what you do, but changing your attitude toward what you do.  You must train your mind to remember God.  Begin by placing visual reminders around you.  We don’t praise God to feel good, but to do good.  Your goal is a continual awareness of the reality that God is always present.
2nd secret of friendship with God is by thinking about his Word throughout the day.  This is called meditation.  When you think about a problem over and over in your mind – that’s called word.  However, when you think about God’s Word over and over in your mind, that’s meditation.
You just need to switch your attention from your problems to Bible verses.  The more you meditate on God’s Word the less you will have to worry about.
Prayer lets you speak to God, mediation lets God speak to you.  Both are essential to becoming a friend of God.
